What is Mission Athens?

Mission Athens is a team of Christians working together to share the love of Jesus and serve the world.  We are supported by the Dollar Club, members of Central Church of Christ in Athens, AL, and fellow Christians from several other churches.  Our purpose is to serve those in our community who are most in need.  Our work includes helping the homeless, serving underprivileged children, supporting the elderly, and loving those who are lost in our community.  Please join us in “being the church” in our town.

Our mission is our community. Our beliefs are best demonstrated by helping those living without basic necessities with their physical needs. Mission Athens is operated by volunteers and all donations are used to help those in our immediate community who are most in need.

How you can help Mission Athens

Churches: Multiple denominations support Mission Athens! Some collect money weekly from members (Dollar Club) and others pledge a monthly benevolence amount. This money is pooled to meet many community needs. Clients go through a vetting process to see if they meet the criteria for assistance as established by Mission Athens.

Businesses are invited to partner with Mission Athens! This is a non-profit organization where 100% of all donations go directly to this community in order to help those most in need.

Individuals with time, talents, connections, and resources are invited to participate with Mission Athens! Do you have a passion for helping children be successful in school? Are you able to donate your time to teach a music class? An art class? An exercise class? Can you donate haircuts or other necessary services? Volunteers are always needed! They are the hands and feet of our organization.

The Haven Mission Athens operates a house located in downtown Athens, dedicated to providing a safe place for after-school tutoring, summer programs, Thursday night Bible study, and other community needs.

Mission Athens Programs:

Dollar Club churches partner with Mission Athens by contributing money. Some do this by asking members to donate one dollar weekly to go toward community benevolence. Others pledge a monthly contribution.
